The Margin of Excellence Fund

The Margin of Excellence Fund is an account that each sport has to cover unbudgeted items that may arise over the course of the year. Margin of Excellence Fund donations are received through the GSU Athletic Foundation and placed in an account to be used by head coaches so that they can enhance the student-athlete experience for their respective sports.

Contributions to the Margin of Excellence Fund are restricted for use exclusively by the designated sports' head coach as approved through the Department of Athletics. Some examples of "Margin of Excellence" expenditures to improve the student-athlete experience include:

  • Training Equipment
  • Uniforms/Warm-ups
  • Shoes
  • Nutritional Supplements
  • Video Equipment
  • Increased Travel per diems

Donations to the Margin of Excellence Fund are tax deductible but not counted toward your Eagle Fund giving level for seating and/or parking benefits. Please contact your tax professional for specific deductibility of your contribution.
